Festive Fall Centerpiece DIY

Thanksgiving is just a month away, so why not start decorating your table for the big meal and check one important task off the to do list! Fresh pumpkins and gourds are a perfect addition to a festive Thanksgiving table, but in order to still have fresh pumpkins and gourds for your centerpiece, now is the time to properly clean them to make sure they remain fresh.

When selecting pumpkins for your Thanksgiving centerpiece choose fruit in varieties of colors and sizes. A unique table top would include white and blue colored pumpkins in varying sizes. Make sure the fruit is showing no signs of rotting. After you have selected your pumpkins and gourds, prepare the bleach solution to clean off any mildew that may be the rind of the fruit. In your sink mix a solution of 9 parts water to 1 part bleach, and soak the pumpkin and gourds in the solution for 20 minutes. When the 20 minutes is up dry off the pumpkin and get ready to be creative.

While arranging your pumpkins on your dinner table, add artificial or fresh foliage, candles and other fall décor to create the perfect Thanksgiving scene. Your pumpkins should stay fresh for several weeks, however, monitor them for soft spots which will soon rot. This is a very simple way to create a beautiful table to enjoy for the month of November!
